Willa Piro is a costume designer for theatre, film, and dance. Her design approach foregrounds collaboration, centering storytelling through nuanced character-driven choices. She is interested in how silhouette, color, and texture can elicit an emotional response, and is excited by world building projects that allow a unique visual language to emerge. Willa grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia and now calls Queens, NY home.

Recent theatre design projects include ERASTES written by Andres Osorio and directed by Rachel Horwitz at The Fresh Fruits Festival and GALATEA written by MJ Kaufman and directed by Sarah Hughes at Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Recent film design projects include the feature film ACT ONE written & directed by Sophia Takal (post-production), the short film THERAPIST CRUSH written & directed by MJ Kaufman (NEWFEST, Soho Film Festival), and the feature film GHOSTWRITTEN written and directed by Thomas Matthews starring Jay Duplass, Maria Dizzia, and Kate Lyn Sheil.

As an Assistant Costume Designer she has worked on various productions on and off Broadway, and for streaming studios such as Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, and Apple TV+.

Recent Associate Costume Design work includes PRAYER FOR THE FRENCH REPUBLIC (Broadway), and recent Assistant Costume Design work includes AN ENEMY OF THE PEOPLE and SWEENEY TODD (Broadway), and the feature film THE ADULTS (Universal). 

Willa received a B.F.A. in Theatre Design & Technology from VCU School of the Arts.
