Willa Piro is a costume & clothing designer based in New York City working in theatre, dance, tv, and film.
Centering storytelling, her approach to costume design is collaborative and seeks to support nuances of character and intention through the use of silhouette, texture and color. Her background in theatre and dance as a performer continues to inform her process, focusing on the interaction between the body and clothing, and how each can both enhance and inform the other.
Willa holds a BFA in Costume Design from the Theatre Department of Virginia Commonwealth University.
Recent costume design credits include ERASTES, a new play by Andres Osorio, as a part of All Out Arts' Fresh Fruits Festival, GALATEA, a new play by MJ Kaufman, CONFETTI, a short film by Spencer Grammer, and the feature film GHOSTWRITTEN by Thomas Matthews starring Jay Duplass, Maria Dizzia, and Kate Lyn Sheil.
Since graduating in 2016, Willa has assisted at various New York theaters including The Public, MCC, and Signature Theater, and for major streaming studios such as Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, & Apple TV+.
Recent assistant costume design work includes the Broadway revival of SWEENEY TODD, and feature film THE ADULTS.
